SHSU Geophysical Lab

The SHSU Geophysical Laboratory resides in Room 321 of the Lee Drain Building, with additional equipment in the Core Lab. The instruments and equipment include:

  • An automated track system for measuring magnetic susceptibility, digital images, and color reflectance along cores and U-channel samples
  • Multiple susceptibility meters, coils, and probes
  • A 24-channel Geometrics GEODE Seismic Unit
  • A GEM System Overhauser Magnetometer/Gradiometer with GPS
  • Ground Penetrating Radar Equipment
  • A walk-in refrigeration for core storage
  • The full suite of Mozambique Basin cores collected for SAPETRO by the Marion du Fresne
